This stunning antique Wasmuel asparagus platter, made in Belgium in the late 19th century, is a fine example of Victorian majolica in the rare napkin plate style. Designed to mimic the look of a folded napkin draped over a basket-weave or china plate, the Wasmuel version leaves parts of the underlying plate visible—a charming trompe-l'œil effect popular in the era. Molded asparagus spears and integrated sauce wells add both beauty and function. A collectible centerpiece for spring or Easter tables, or a standout addition to any European pottery collection.
